This comes amid the Facebook information saga involving Cambridge Analytica, where the social media giant reportedly sold data of 50 million users to the consulting firm.
Information security expert Peter Bailey told Kate Kawkesby we would assume Facebook know what it's doing with its information, but we still see information being taken in an unauthorised way.
He says New Zealanders are still pretty trusting when they interact online.
"I think people will still give information, I think they believe most companies are doing the right thing with their information."
Bailey says a lot of Kiwis don't check if they're giving information to companies that can actually look after it.
