A former All Black who's had violence struggles of his own is offering his support to Losi Filipo and his four victims.
The Under-19s rugby player has decided to end his contract with Wellington Rugby, following outcry over his discharge without conviction on assault charges.
Norm Hewitt told Rachel Smalley Losi Filipo needs to rebuild just as much as the victims.
"How do we suspend judgement long enough - and again I'm not condoning the actions of this young man - to actually give him a chance and also support the four young people," said Hewitt, referring to the victims of the assault.
Wellington Rugby has indicated that they intend to continue to provide support for Filipo, despite the termination of his contract.
