Skilled migrant arrivals have risen by around 24,000Â people in the last 13 years.
A New Zealand Herald analysis shows the UK is responsible for the biggest chunk of these arrivals.
But former economist at the Reserve Bank Michael Reddell told Nadine Higgins when you look at all visa categories, it's a different story.
He said most of the categories are dominated by those coming from Asian countries.
