An Auckland Transport board member believes his concerns over the City Rail Link's budget have come true.
It comes as KiwiRail has assured it will cut delays down to a maximum 1 minute - 20 seconds, when it opens in 2026.
Councillor Maurice Williamson claims the five-point-five-billion-dollar project could cost even more when it's finally completed.
But Auckland councillor and AT board member Maurice Williamson told Ryan Bridge it will clog up the city's traffic even further.
He says a high frequency of trains on the network will see cars backed up to Africa sitting at level crossings.
