The woman set to lead Britain is a political survivor.
Theresa May is the country's longest-serving Home Secretary since 1982. She's set to be sworn in as Prime Minister to replace David Cameron this week.
Editor of politics.co.uk Ian Dunt told Rachel Smalley most Home Secretaries barely make it through first year - but Theresa May's been there for six.
"Basically sort of consolidated her position there, despite [...] not being very popular with the press, so actually quite an impressive, formidable political talent."
Dunt said she will now face the most formidable puzzle - negotiating the country's separation from the European Union.
He said Ms May was in the remain camp, but kept quite quiet during the campaign.
"She's a remainer, but she's not very 'remainee', and I think that is very key to the success, that this is not someone who ever loved the EU or ever spoke particularly highly about it."
