Most food banks across the country are experiencing a rise in food in security by the day.
A new venture, the New Zealand Food Network, is launching this week, aiding food banks in storage and distribution at no extra cost.
New Zealand Food Network CEO Gavin Findlay told Kate Hawkesby they received great support from the Ministry of Social Development to get up and running.
"We've had an amazing team put together.
"In terms of the community groups, we're identifying 100 or so what we would call food hubs up and down the country, that have got the capability of receiving bulk palatalised products.
"[They] can then distribute that to the front-line organisations who deal with the people directly."
