Put Willie Jackson's place on the Labour list down to gender equality.

The former broadcaster has failed in an attempt to re-negotiate his spot.

The announcement of the entire list had to be postponed yesterday, so the former Alliance MP could fly to Wellington to have his say, unhappy with being placed at 21.

Now it's out, and Mr Jackson remains at number 21.

Political analyst Chris Trotter told Rachel Smalley the party's never disguised its stance on equal opportunities.

"Willie failed to grasp I think, and maybe even Andrew did too, just how firm Labour is -- in terms of the party organisation -- in ensuring gender equality."
