Operation Trojan Shield has put gangs under the microscope again this week.

The question remains, how do we get people out of the gang lifestyle?

Billy Macfarlane is a former drug lord who has completely changed his life around, and now runs an offender rehabilitation programme in Rotorua and he told Kate Hawkesby a lot of young gang members could be prevented from entering that life if they had someone show them the negative impacts.

“I’d like to see a lot of the older, ex-gang members step forward and promote the problems that exist inside of that lifestyle.”
