The Property Institute is slamming Labour's housing policy.
The Labour Party has announced it will phase out tax breaks for landlords and property investors, in a bid to dampen property speculation and help first-home buyers go up against property investors.
Property Institute chief executive Ashley Church told Rachel Smalley Andrew Little's use of the word ‘speculators’ to describe property investors is mischievous.
"Speculators by definition are a blight on society, but they only operate in the market over very short spaces of time.
"If a speculator buys a property and sells it within days or at the very most months, that's completely different to mum and dad property investors who are not speculators in any sense of the word."
