The Crusaders have come-from-behind to beat the Hurricanes 33-25 in the Super Rugby Pacific season opener in Christchurch.
Replacement halfback Kyle Preston scored a hat-trick on debut, after coming onto the field in the ninth minute for the injured Noah Hotham.
Coach Rob Penney has praised his side's fight.
