Prince Harry has reported for duty at the Royal Military College in the Australian capital.

He'll spend a month on secondment with the Australian army in Canberra.

John Bale from the organisation Soldier On, which helps rehabilitate soldiers when they return from war zones, says it's an honour to have him there.

"When he goes up to Darwin he'll meet a number of those who are wounded, injured and I think that will be something for me and for Soldier On something very special, because he does inspire people."

Earlier Prince Harry was greeted by an enthusiastic crowd at the Australian War Memorial in Canberra.

About a thousand spectators cheered when the visiting royal emerged from his convoy before he laid a wreath on the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
