Two tradesmen have been hailed heroes for saving a badly burnt woman’s life after running towards an inferno to pull her to safety as her house became engulfed in flames.

The woman’s Adelaide home erupted into flames on Tuesday with emergency services called by neighbours who saw the smoke billowing from the property.

Tradesman Mike Ajami was driving past with his colleague during a break when he saw the inferno and jumped over the fence into the backyard.

According to neighbours, the woman was inside asleep when the fire broke out where she suffered bad burns.

Not wanting to leave, she was seen holding a garden hose trying to put out the inferno.

Finding her in the backyard, Ajami and his friend could be heard shouting at the woman to leave.

“Get out! Rob, push her, push her,” the pair can be heard yelling.

“There’s a lady there, she’s trying to get the fire out. Holy f*** bro.”

Footage captured the chaos as the smoke hurriedly drifted through the backyard as flames grew more fierce. Ajami and his colleague could be seen ducking for cover as thick smoke engulfed the backyard.

With the fire getting worse, the pair managed to lift the 70-year-old over the fence to safety.

She was rushed to hospital in a serious condition where she was treated for several bad burns to her body.

“She didn’t want to leave the house, she was holding on to the tree ... she didn’t want to leave,” Ajami told 9 News.

“Everyone was yelling, there was a lady at the back ... no one was going to go and get her.

“So me and my mate jumped the fence.”

Emergency services eventually put out the flames but said the house sustained significant damage.

Neighbours hailed the tradies heroes for their brave rescue.

“They’re heroes, they really are because she wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for them.”
