The use of the word 'allegedly' has got an Australian government department into trouble.

The Department of Immigration and Border Protection issued a statement rejecting the comparison between detention centres and the conditions it said were allegedly experienced in Nazi Germany.

It said any insinuation it's denying the holocaust is both ridiculous and baseless.
