Malcolm Turnbull was the first world leader to offer his wishes to Jacinda Ardern after the news of her pregnancy.
The Australian Prime Minister called Ardern shortly after the news broke.
He also tweeted his congratulations, writing:Â "When we spoke this morning you sounded more excited than you did when you won the election! Lots of love and best wishes from me and Lucy and all of us across the ditch."

The BBC reports that Jacinda has been flooded with support by people online, following her pregnancy announcement.
The Guardian has highlighted Ardern's fight for a woman's right to privacy regarding baby plans, shortly before she conceived baby Ardern Gayford.
BuzzFeed Australia points out that the father-to-be, keen fisherman Clarke Gayford, will be a stay-at-home dad when Ardern returns to her government duties after parental leave.
Wishing @jacindaardern & @NZClarke all the best as they expect their 1st child in June: a super busy year coming up & much to look forward to. Every #woman should have the choice of combining family & career. https://t.co/Ma6B6OGXJe
