The Black Caps weren't the only big winners last weekend.
Friday's sold out Cricket World Cup match is believed to have pumped up to 10-million dollars into Wellington's economy.
Positively Wellington Tourism Chief Executive David Perks, says the high proportion of overseas fans and the good weather helped make it a bumper weekend.
He says the early finish to the game also meant people had more time to enjoy the city after.
"I think all those people come into the city while it's still daylight, enjoy the waterfront, enjoy our restaurants and bars and time in the city at the end of the game."
And David Perks says Wellington can expect another big weekend as England returns for a game against Sri Lanka on Sunday.
"Each game's going to bring something a little different, with England back from Christchurch at the end of the week.
"That'll mean another big weekend with the English fans in town this coming weekend."
