VIDEO: Truck fire causing major delays on SH1
Updated 12.37pm:Â Parts of State Highway One in Wellington will remain closed for most of the day as a burnt-out dangerous goods truck is cleaned up.
The truck and its flammable goods including paint thinner, batteries and aerosols burst into flames earlier this morning - blocking both southbound lanes at Paremata.
The fire is out, but is still smouldering and causing a putrid smell in the area.
NZTA say dump trucks, a digger, an all terrain fork lift and a sweeper truck are on site now to clear the road.
It's going to take around five hours and drivers are being advised diversions will remain in place at the Paremata Roundabout.
