The Taxi Federation is highlighting more concerns over safety as ride-sharing app Uber prepares to launch in Christchurch.

While the company admits it's yet to decide on entering Christchurch, sales people are inviting locals to interview to be drivers.

Newstalk ZB has also been told they will do away with P-endorsements required in Auckland and Wellington, and instead rely on criminal background checks.

Federation Executive Director Roger Heale says it appears they are bailing from taxi-like services into pure ride-sharing instead.

"At the end of the day you're going to be paying the same amount for getting a regular taxi as you would using an uber car but you don't get any of the safety features."
