A roof over Auckland's premier tennis venue could be a while away due to a setback for plans to redevelop Auckland's ASB Tennis Arena.
Two stands were supposed to be demolished after this summer's international tournaments, with a roof to be in place for the 2020 tournament.
However, it's understood stage one of the redevelopments won't take place until after the 2019 tournament at the earliest.
ASB Classic tournament director Karl Budge is unsure when it will all start.
"We need to get a line set of exactly what we need to do and what order it needs to be done and once we have that then we're in a position to commit to some projects."
Budge said there is more planning to get sorted before any physical work begins.
"For the sake of doing a little bit more homework before we rip down stands and commit to what is our biggest strategic project that we have done for some time, you know we need to make sure we've dotted i's and crossed t's there."
The women's draw of the ASB Classic begins tomorrow.
