New Zealand weightlifter Laurel Hubbard's elbow injury in the Commonwealth Games women's 95kg+ stakes has been confirmed as career-ending.
The 40-year-old transgender athlete, a hot favourite to win gold on the Gold Coast on Monday, twisted and injured her left elbow in her final snatch attempt.
She took no further part in competition, with the injury subsequently confirmed as a ruptured ligament in her elbow.
