Harley Davis won the feature race and had the fastest lap of the day at Eastland Kart Club’s fifth points meeting of the season.

Hard-charging Davis whipped around the track in 22.319 seconds at Sunday’s meeting – the club’s first of the year.

The feature race at the end of the day is always a highlight at the club’s Aerodrome Rd track. Ten karts raced over 10 laps that included a “joker lap”.

Second and third placings went to Shaun Barwick and Luca Vita respectively. Mark Vizi Toroa – in his impressive new machine – was fourth and Daniel Taylor was fifth.

In the kids’ feature race over eight laps, Jose Govender picked up his first feature victory. Nixen Gooch came home second and rookie Kolten Irvine was third.

The drivers of the day were Vizi Toroa, for a great showing in his new kart, and Gooch.

Initially, drivers did timed laps to sort out which of the two groups they would start in.

The fastest drivers were in Group A, but this could change during the day depending on results.

Luca Vita had two wins and a second placing in Group A, while Davis had a win and two seconds. Third placings went to Barwick (two) and Taylor.

Logan Irvine, Dion Lund and Vizi Toroa had Group B wins; Vizi Toroa, Shane Murrell and Hamish Worsnop had second placings; and Lund, Barry Irvine and Caleb Stichbury picked up third placings.

In the kids’ races, rookies started behind the juniors. These youngsters drove well and their starts were the best yet.

Credit goes to siblings Kolten and Pyper Irvine, Nixen and Geo Gooch, and Jose and Juvae Govender.

Nixen Gooch won two races and Kolten Irvine, one.

Jose Govender was second twice and Pyper Irvine once, while Pyper Irvine was third twice and Kolten Irvine once.
