Former National MP Tau Henare has picked up a government-appointed job at Housing New Zealand.
The former Maori Affairs Minister is joining the corporation's board of directors.
Housing New Zealand Minister Bill English said Henare will bring a community-based perspective to the board. He said his understanding of iwi, hapu, and whanau dynamics will be of particular value.
Prior to his five terms in Parliament, Henare had a background in community development, early childhood education and union organisation.
He resigned from Parliament ahead of the 2014 general election after he was given a low list ranking.
