There is frustration from building practitioners as the industry comes under-fire again for possible sub-standard earthquake repair work.
A government review has unearthed shortcomings in the quality of under-floor earthquake repairs.
The Ministry of Business Innovation and Employment are currently investigating the issue, while the Earthquake Commission is reviewing all under-floor structural repairs carried out without a consent.
Certified Builders CEO Grant Florence believes those involved deserve to face penalties.
"The license framework was put in place to list an industry standard, or provide a minimum standard for the industry and if practitioners haven't kept to the code then they need to be sanctioned."
Mr Florence argues building workers are expected to, and need to take responsibility for their work.Â
Any builder, any licensed building practitioner knows what's right and what's wrong. Regardless of that, these are people's homes and although there were extraordinary circumstances I would think that's not an excuse."Â
