Some on social media are comparing the two police shootings this week to the United States.
On Tuesday a man was shot dead in Hamilton after a police raid on a premises in an ongoing investigation into methamphetamine and arms.

Yesterday in Rotorua a man wielding a machete was shot twice in the stomach by police after pepper spray and being tasered three times had no effect.
It follows heightened tensions in the USA, following fatal shootings of black men by Police officers, and a subsequent attack in Dallas that left five officers dead.

Rotorua mayor Steve Chadwick is rubbishing US comparisons to the shooting.
"This is not something that I think you can draw that long bow on at all."
She said the Police "are very highly regarded here, and we've got a community that has great confidence in our Police."
"I think it's absolutely wrong and we should assure the community of Rotorua, this has got nothing to do with what's happening in the States."
