The government is helping Fiji with $1.3 million to support its presidency of the UN Climate Change Conference in Bonn later this year.
Climate Change Minister Paula Bennett says it's a big undertaking for any country and it's the first time a Pacific Island nation has been chosen for the role.
In addition to the financial support, New Zealand's climate change ambassador Jo Tyndall will be on call as an adviser.
The conference in November will bring together climate experts, officials and leaders from around the world.
