The Government says offshore agencies aren't asking us to increase our refugee quota.
Increasing the quota has become a renewed domestic political issue following US President Donald Trump's crackdown this week on Muslim immigrants.
Trump's executive order has put a 120-day hold on allowing refugees into the United States, an indefinite ban on refugees from Syria and a 90-day bar on citizens from Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen.
Minister of Immigration Michael Woodhouse said he has been having conversations with the International Organisation for Migration and the UNHCR about New Zealand's refugee resettlement programme.
"There is no pressure at this stage on New Zealand to increase its quota," he said.
"Obviously we'll be watching what goes on internationally very closely, but I'm satisfied that we've got our settings right, and of course we increased our quota by a third last year."
Figures published yesterday by Statistics New Zealand show that last year the country had a net gain of 70,600 migrants - an annual record.
The growth comes despite continued forecasts from officials that immigration numbers will fall.
