National's Todd Muller has taken a strong lead in the battle for the Bay of Plenty.
The seat has been held by National since 1941, but Minister of Health Tony Ryall is leaving after 24 years in parliament.
His replacement Todd Muller is sitting on almost 8000 votes, Labour's Clare Wilson is on just 2103.
