Jason Ede has quit the National Party.
The former journalist was named in Nicky Hager's book Dirty Politics as the man liasing with bloggers and accessing Labour Party computers.
A spokesman for the party has confirmed his departure, saying he chose to leave the party "on his own terms".
The party says, as it's an internal staffing matter, they will not release any more details.
