The Green Party's co-leaders have spoken out over shoplifting allegations against list MP Golriz Ghahraman.Â
On Wednesday, ZB Plus exclusively revealed the list MP faced an allegation of shoplifting from a Ponsonby boutique on December 23.Â
James Shaw and Marama Davidson say they were made aware of an allegation on December 27, but at that stage the situation was not clear.
They say Ghahraman is on a planned overseas trip, and the store concerned confirmed it was comfortable waiting to resolve the issue on her return.Â
The co-leaders say a week ago they were advised of allegations of a second incident.Â
Shaw and Davidson say that because the store didn't want the allegations to become public, they didn't make a statement.Â
Ghahraman agreed to stand down from her portfolios for now.Â
They say no other Party MPs were involved, and the Party's had no contact with Police.Â
