A veteran MP believes his select committee has been compromised by the Mike Sabin saga.

Labour's Phil Goff is a member of the law and order select committee, that Mr Sabin was allowed to continue to chair while facing a police investigation.

Mr Goff says the committee's integrity has been undermined by the government's handling of the matter.
However he doesn't believe it needs to re-hear submissions that were presented during Mike Sabin's time in charge.

The committee's deputy chair National MP Kanwaljit Singh Bakshi was this morning appointed to replace Mr Sabin in the chair.
