National is still calling out the Government for "dancing around the issue" of Russia's involvement in the Salisbury nerve agent attack.

Foreign Affairs spokesman Todd McClay says Winston Peters simply can't bring himself to do what dozens of Governments already have and hold the Kremlin accountable for it.

But Peters says the attacks are hypocritical, particularly the ones around the NZSIS advice that there are no Russian spies at the Embassy here to expel.

"I can recall on the 8th of March 2010, Bill English answering for then Prime Minister John Key saying we do not answer such questions as this. It's all there in the Hansard."
