A pilot programme that acts as a circuit breaker for repeat child offenders is set to expand to Hamilton, Christchurch and Auckland.

The approach sees information shared with a Oranga Tamariki within 24 hours of a child being apprehended, and a plan developed by community providers within 48.

Further funding's been signalled over the next year for the country's first digital Firearms Registry, while existing funding will maintain the Police to population ratio.
