If you're a fan of the movie 'We Bought A Zoo' - here's your chance to live out the dream.
The three-and-a-half hectare Franklin Zoo, just south of Auckland, is up for tender.
It closed in tragic circumstances three years ago after keeper Helen Schofield was crushed by Mila, the African elephant.
A crowdfunding campaign to reopen it late last year failed, raising less than 10 percent of its 2.8 million dollar target.
The property features a lion's den, and an elephant, rhino and giraffe house alongside its human house.
Local councillor Jacqui Church says it would be nice to see the property reopen as a tourist attraction.
"Any addition to tourism in the Waikato region is a good thing."
Jacqui Church says any development that would provide jobs and boost the local economy would be good to see.
Tenders close at the end of the month.
