A woman's now in hospital with leg injuries after being run down and pinned to a tree by another woman in a vehicle this afternoon.

The incident occurred on Salisbury Road Birkdale on Auckland's North Shore around 4:15.

This appears to have followed a confrontation between the two at a roundabout.

A nearby resident said the two women work together and one was screaming at the other "you shouldn't have done it".

Another local who saw the crash said the injured woman was screaming, and the woman in the vehicle was threatening to hurt her and yelling "You broke my heart".

The Serious Crash Unit is investigating, and the driver has been assisting police with inquiries.
