One person has been rescued from a lift after a transformer fire outside Auckland's Eden Park.

The fire had self-extinguished by the time fire crews arrived, but it briefly caused a power outage to Eden Park and several homes.

Power is now back on.

It won't affect this afternoon's ITM Cup game between Auckland and Taranaki, which is due to kick-off at 2.35pm

The fire was preceded by a loud bang.
