It's hoped charging foreign tourists more to use four of New Zealand's Great Walks will help recover lost revenue.
Tourists will pay twice as much has Kiwis next season, stumping up $140 a night on the Milford Track, $130 a night on the Kepler and Routeburn tracks, and $75 dollars a night on the Abel Tasman Coastal Walk.
Peter Wilson told Tim Dower says the current way of running things isn't sustainable.
"[They] actually run at a loss for the Government, they lose about $2million a year.
"This move will bring them up on to a break-even standpoint for the Government."
