Three people have died on our roads this afternoon.

Gordonton Road is closed near Taupiri in the Waikato after two cars collided.

One person died in the crash and two others have been seriously injured and have been taken to Waikato Hospital by ambulance.

In Tokoroa, a motorcyclist has been killed after a crash with a car.

And in the South Island, Ashburton Police were called to a crash at a one lane bridge near Hinds shortly before 5pm.

They said a truck left the bridge and crashed into the riverbed, seriously injuring the driver.

Rescue crews worked to free the driver for more than a hour, but he died at the scene.
