Family violence is front and centre again this morning, on what would have been the tenth birthday of the Kahui twins.
Both Chris and Cru Kahui died from severe head injuries before they were three months old, and no-one has yet been held to account for the deaths.
The tragedy ignited intense debate about the way children are treated in New Zealand.
A decade on, Labour's Poto Williams said Kiwis still need to accept there's a problem, and work harder to stop family violence.
"We could probably change the picture within a generation, but we are reluctant to go down that road to actually recognise that our children are being harmed."
While the Government has gone some way to addressing the issue, funding for refuges and other agencies is in decline, Williams said.
"If you ask any refuge, they will tell you they are over delivering by two or three times on the numbers that they are funded for, so that's a big problem."
