The Takaka Hill Road, State Highway 60, will be opening tomorrow.

However it will be one lane to allow escorted convoys of vehicles in to and out of Golden Bay.

The NZ Transport Agency is aiming for vehicles to cross the hill between 9 and 5 tomorrow, subject to a final engineering inspection in the morning.

Pedestrians, cyclists, vehicles towing caravans, boats or trailers, truck and trailer units or over-dimension units will not be allowed through.

People should expect long wait times between convoys because the road will be open in only one direction at a time.

After tomorrow State Highway 60 will close apart from a brief period every morning and evening.
