A university master's student has designed a new web tool to give the public more input into the New Zealand flag debate.
Thomas Le Bas is studying design at Massey University.
He's designed a web page called Flagpost - where people can have their say about the three-and-a-half thousand flag design submissions up for consideration.
Thomas Le Bas says currently, the public has very little meaningful input into which four flags we'll vote on.
"By getting the people involved in that process and actually selecting them, you're getting a more informed decision on what should the first four alternative flags be for the referendum."
The four options will be voted on at a referendum in November-December.
In March next year, there'll be a second referendum to choose between the current flag and the preferred alternative.
