Teachers are being told to think about whether they're dressing appropriately at work.

The School Trustees' Association has sent a checklist to all schools, reminding teachers to leave frumpy clothes in the drawer and dress professionally.

President Lorraine Kerr says teachers need to ensure they don't look messy or untidy.

The Association is also urging teachers to improve their communications with parents and caregivers.
