Singer Stan Walker has paid tribute to murdered New Zealander Tara Brown, who he knew from the Gold Coast.

Ms Brown died in hospital after suffering a savage beating allegedly from her ex-partner Lionel Patea.

"Take a look at this beautiful young mother. She died last night fighting for her life in hospital…. This is the result of domestic violence.... It's too late to do something for her now," he wrote.

Walker said it breaks his heart, with Ms Brown leaving behind a beautiful three year old daughter.

He said we can't let this happen again.

"Men, we need more real men that respect, protect, honour and love our girls - even stand in for our girls to rescue them. Our men need help… they need to be taught.

 Patea is currently in hospital with self-inflicted stab wounds.

He's due to appear in court next month.
