A large emergency service presence has cordoned off a medical centre in South Auckland.
The Herald understands a deceased toddler was brought to Local Doctors on Browns Rd, Manurewa this morning, but couldn’t be revived, despite efforts by paramedics.
A Hato Hone St John spokesperson confirmed it was “notified of an incident” in Manurewa at 11.35am.
“One ambulance, one rapid response unit, and one operations manager attended.”
St John referred all other questions to police.
A source told the Herald everyone was “distraught” and emergency services had cordoned off the clinic as police investigated.
“They’re most likely going to close the clinic now.”
When the Herald called the clinic on Wednesday afternoon, a spokeswoman confirmed the clinic had closed due to an “emergency incident”.
Police confirmed it was making inquiries after a baby was taken to a Manurewa medical facility.
“At this point the baby’s death is being treated as unexplained while further inquiries are carried out.
“At this early stage we are unable to comment further.”
