New research from Colmar Brunton highlights the sort of worker who is most despised in meetings.

Those who dominate meetings, people who are negative about everything, and those who're more engaged in their mobile phones than the meeting itself are considered the most hated meeting attendees.

Account Manager Jessica Balbas said if you want to earn the respect of colleagues in meetings, you may need to change your behaviour a little...or a lot.

"The purpose of meetings is for the most part to get other peoples ideas but if you've got a dominator or someone that just wants to have the floor to themselves that does become annoying for others in the meeting."

Ms Balbas said it's important to keep in mind the purpose of having meetings and we should be thinking about how we're behaving in them.

"It might be that people feel like they need to go through the agenda and things like that but I think that keeping in mind that meetings are held not just for you but for others would be quite important going forward for the next year."
