Mount Maunganui's shark scare seems to be over...for now.
Police and surf lifesavers have been out looking for a shark, after reports of it swimming in Pilot Bay this morning.
After half an hour of searching and no more sightings, the beach has been declared shark free.
Two sightings were reported, putting it at between two and three metres long.
It's believed the shark has now swum away.
