Redcliffs School has launched an awareness campaign that it hopes will turn public opinion against the Education Minister's proposal to close it.
The school has erected new signs protesting the closure, and is using the social media platform Twitter to tell the public the school can be made safe for students to return.
Education Minister Hekia Parata revealed in November that the school was on track to be closed despite engineering reports declaring the buildings safe from rockfall if some measures were taken.
More than 3000 submissions were tabled in favour of the school staying open.
Board of Trustees member Mark Robberds says they will be doing as much as they can until the Minister issues her final decision in March.
"Since the interim decision to close, the whole group's been really, really energised. It's a really good sign. There's no way people are going to let this happen - Christchurch City Council has offered their support to us as well."
"We are a highly functioning New Zealand primary school and we're being closed because of a technical difficulty that can be solved? It would be crazy to let the school go."
The school has recently appointed their deputy principal Rose McInerney, to replace current principal Kim Alexander who leaves at the end of term.
