The organiser of the campaign to buy a beach in Abel Tasman National Park says he's touched by the honesty and generosity of those who pledged money.
More than 39,000 people promised over 2.2 million dollars, and Duane Major says 97.5 percent of that has already cleared.
Mr Major said it shows their trust in New Zealanders was well placed.
"We think this is an extraordinary result, this is just the first sweep, there'll be further sweeps of people's credit card accounts and if it keeps coming in like that then that's an extraordinary result and we're very grateful to New Zealand."
He's confident the rest of the money will come through.
"There's over a hundred people who have actually got in touch directly with Give-a-little and said 'hey look I've changed accounts' or 'I'm low on cash, how can I still do it?" So if people get their bank accounts ready and contact Give-a-little I think we are looking very strong."
Mr Major said some have also been in contact who missed out on making a pledge, and are offering to help cover any shortfall.
