Invercargill Police are investigating a home invasion near Elizabeth Park.

They say it happened around the intersection of Centre and Conyers Streets at approximately 10.45 on Sunday night.

Police say those living in the house were in the lounge when two men dressed in dark clothing with their faces covered entered carrying weapons.

The occupants were assaulted, receiving head injuries which required hospital treatment.

Police want to hear from anyone who may have seen something suspicious in the area.
