Police have named the two women killed in a crash in a North Canterbury township less than a week before Christmas.
Emergency services responded to the serious two-vehicle crash on State Highway 1 at Greta Valley just before 7.15pm on December 19. Two people died in the crash and the Serious Crash Unit conducted a scene examination.
The victims were Lu-Yao Lin from China and Siriyakorn Sovitayasakul from Thailand, police said today.
“Both women were aged 28 and were in New Zealand on working holidays,” police said.
“Our thoughts are with their families and loved ones in their home countries, and their friends and colleagues in New Zealand.”
Police said inquiries into the circumstances of the crash remain ongoing.
