A manhunt is under way after a man was fatally attacked at an Auckland bus stop last night.
Police launched a homicide investigation following the incident, which happened about 10pm on St Johns Rd, near Dorchester Street in Meadowbank.
Police said a 33-year-old man was assaulted by more than one person.
He was transported to hospital in a critical condition, where he died from his injuries.

The offenders are believed to have left the area in a vehicle, travelling towards Remuera Road.
“We are making inquiries to locate the offenders and the vehicle they left in, and at this time are still working to determine why this tragic event occurred,” police said.

St Johns Road has been closed off between Blackett Crescent and Dorchester Street – an area of about 300m. Police said it would remain closed while a scene investigation is carried out.
Police officers this morning could be seen going door to door on St Johns Rd, speaking to residents near the bus stop.
One resident who lived nearby said they were walking to their usual bus stop this morning when they ran into the police cordon.

He was shocked that someone had apparently been had harmed in his street.
“You read about it in the news but you never think it’s going to happen in your neighbourhood.”
Police have asked anyone with information that could assist the investigation to make a report via 105, using the reference number P062295607.
