
A light plane has crashed this afternoon in Central Otago.
Police and Fire and Emergency have both confirmed they responding but are yet to arrive at the remote location.
A Maritime NZ’s Rescue Coordination Centre spokesperson said a light plane had crashed in the Dingleburn Valley, on the eastern side of Lake Hawea, north of Wanaka.
“RCCNZ was notified the plane was in trouble at about 1pm this afternoon, after an alert was received from the aircrafts emergency location transmitter.
“The Queenstown Rescue Helicopter has arrived on scene and confirmed the aircraft has crashed.
A further helicopter is responding with FENZ personnel as work continues with the response."
